Antique Charge Coin Disc #7156 from the R.A. McWhirr's Co. Department Store in Fall River, Mass. founded in 1877.  This metal coin was used like a Credit Card would be now - one side is embossed McWhirr's Co. and the other side is stamped with a number #.  You show your coin to the clerk and the amount was added to your bill.
Charge Coin measures approx. 1 1/2" L x 7/8" W, has a hole for a key chain as well.  It is silver tone in color. Great for your Credit Card and Advertising collection, etc. and an interesting part of American credit history.
